Memorial Day: An enduring memory of sacrifice for freedom

Since 1868, Memorial Day has been a federal holiday recognizing all people who died serving in the United States Armed Forces. In honor of America’s military men and women, it has been observed on the last Monday of May every year since 1971. This holiday celebrates the military personnel who sacrificed their lives fighting for the country. It is a day to honor and remember those who died in service to protect, defend and guarantee freedom in the nation.

As many will enjoy a longer weekend and warmer weather, take a moment to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.
